Product & Fit
We recommend that customers wash their pairs with cold water and dry on the lowest, most delicate setting. These settings use less energy (better for the planet), but also help the stretch materials last longer when they’re not exposed to extreme heat.
We currently offer three sizes, small, medium, and large. Small fits US Women’s shoe sizes 5-9 and US Men’s shoe sizes 4-8. Medium fits US Women’s shoe sizes 9-14 and US Men’s shoe sizes 8-13. Large fits US Women’s shoe sizes 14+ and US Men’s shoe sizes 13+.
Organic cotton is not treated, so on low heat your socks will shrink a bit during the first wash. This is normal! After the first wash, they won’t shrink any more.
We updated our socks to contain more organic cotton, so our newer styles are 80% Fairtrade Organic Cotton, 18% Recycled Polyester, and 2% Elastane. Older styles are composed of 75% organic, Fairtrade Certified cotton, 23% Polyamide and 2% Spandex.
We donate $1 per pair, $1 per candle, and $5 per sweatshirt to the nonprofit partner.
Our black string on single-pair packaging does a little more than replace plastic waste. It also makes it easy to open! Instead of cutting it, pull the loose end of the string, and it will release the pair from the packaging easily.
Orders & Shipping
Orders are processed within 1-2 business days and take 3-5 business days for shipping within the US. Typically east coast orders will take about 3 days to ship, while west coast orders may take up to 5 days. If an item is backordered or pre-ordered, those items will be shipped separately from the rest of your order when they come back in stock.
International orders and orders to Hawaii and Alaska take 7-10 days for shipping.
Orders ship from our warehouse in Pennsylvania, USA. Australian and New Zealand orders ship from our warehouse in Sydney, Australia.
We currently ship globally. Shipping rates are calculated based on order weight and destination.

You can pay up front or be sent an invoice once the order ships - payment is due NET 30 from the ship date via check or credit card.

Refunds & Exchanges
Once goods are committed and sold, Conscious Step is not beholden to returns on any items that the customer could not sell further.
We stand behind our socks. Defective merchandise will always be accepted as long as they are returned within 7 days of receipt and the damage was not a result of unpacking the product. The items will either be replaced at no cost or full credit will be issued.
Manufacturing & Sustainability
Our socks are manufactured in India, the largest producer of organic cotton as of 2023.
Our factory is constantly vetted by independent groups and regularly undergoes social and factory audits from recognized groups such as WRAP and SEDEX. They are certified by OEKO-TEX Certified, Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and Fairtrade International.
Our representatives based in India visit regularly, and our U.S. team visits annually. Our most recent visit was in January 2023.
We use GOTS Organic, Fairtrade, and Vegan certified cotton to make our socks. These certifications ensure that the cotton is not treated with herbicides or pesticides, and that farmers are paid a fair wage.
Our candles are made in the USA with locally harvested beeswax, coconut oil, and phthalate-free fragrance.
The paper used in our tags and boxes is made from recycled and recyclable materials, and the inks are soy-based.
We’re currently in the process of reducing all unnecessary packaging and using the most sustainable options when possible.

Selling Conscious Step products
The minimum advertised price for all products is the price at which Conscious Step retails the product. For example, for a single crew pair, this is $15.95. Customers cannot sell at prices below Conscious Step’s own MSRP, which can be checked on consciousstep.com.
